School Rules

Rules and Regulations

Keeping the above policy and objectives in mind, the school has framed the following rules for strict observance by the students:

(A) Every student should carry his/her Identity Card and school diary to school daily.

(B) Students should arrive at the school before the first assembly bell rings.

(C) The bell before the assembly or for the periods is a signal for all to go to their respective class rooms. This should be done promptly and in silence.

(D) Running, playing or shouting inside the school building is forbidden. Perfect silence must be observed while changing classes between periods.

(E) Students should be habitually clean and always neatly and properly dressed.

(F) The school uniform should be worn on all working days and for all school functions within the school. They should also wear the school uniform on out station visits or during board examinations at the centers located in other schools. Students who are slovenly dressed or not in uniform will be sent home.

(G) Non Sikh boys should get their hair cut at regular intervals. Sikh boys should invariably wear navy blue turbans or their customary headgear.

(H) Care must be taken of all school property. No student should damage any school furniture or the school property. They should not write or draw anything on the walls. Damage done will be made good from the concerned students.

(I) No books (other than text books or library books), magazines or papers should be brought to the school.

(J) Lending or borrowing of money or other articles is strictly prohibited.

(K) The school is not responsible for goods lost. It is not advisable to bring valuable articles (like expensive watches, fountain pens, items of jewellery) to the school.

(L) The school reserves the right to suspend/rusticate and expel the students whose progress is unsatisfactory or whose conduct is harmful to other students.

(M) Parents and guardians must not visit their wards/teachers in the class rooms without the Principal's permission.

(N) Students should get their Report Cards signed by their Parents/Guardians within two days of receipt of the Report Cards and return the same to the school. Only the final report card will be retained by the students.

(O) A child who fails twice in the same class will not be permitted to continue his/her studies in the school.

(P) Late comers, uniform defaulters and children who do not do the home work regularly will be sent home. The parents of such students will be informed by the school either telephonically or through short message service (sms).

(Q) A student who uses unfair means during tests will be given zero in that subject / all the subjects and a warning letter. Repetition of the same will result in dismissal / expulsion from the school.

(R) Students are not allowed to use the school telephone without the permission of the Receptionist. They will not be called to answer phone calls during school hours.

(S) Mobile phones are not permitted in the school. They will be confiscated and returned to the parents only after paying a fine of Rs.200/- and giving an undertaking that their ward will not repeat the mistake. (T) Any change in residential address or telephone number must be immediately notified to the school authorities.

(U) On their birthdays, the teachers are not allowed to accept gifts from students. On their own birthdays, students are also not allowed to distribute any gifts. They can, however, distribute only toffees to their classmates / teachers.

1. What is expected of KGVS students:

(A) They should take good care of their health by taking balanced diet and regularly doing the physical exercises. They should attend morning PT classes/yoga classes/martial art classes and take part in organised games and sports activities of the school. It is obligatory to speak in English in the school and within school premises.

(B) They should always avoid vulgarity in talk and behaviour.

(C) They should address their teachers and all the members of the staff with due respect and politeness.

(D) They should always be ready to lend a helping hand to the visiting parents in school, or to any unattended visitor if required.

(E) They should stand up and wish him/her when a teacher or visitor comes to talk to them. They should take their seat only when permitted and should convey thanks.

(F) They should never cheat or be unfair in studies and games.

(G) They should never be cruel. They should know that cruelty is the trait of a bully, while kindness is the mark of gentleness.

(H) They should always be honest and truthful.

(I) They should respect the liberty and rights of others.

(J) They should respect the beauty of the class room and of the school premises and report any damage they may observe.

2. Instructions for Guardians:

To get the best from the school for your child, you are advised to maintain close contact with the school. We earnestly recommend that parents and guardians should look into the ward's school diary every day and see that the lesson and homework assigned for the day is done by their wards. The remarks should be seen and countersigned regularly. Should you feel that your ward is not making the desired progress the Headmistress / Principal should be contacted.

Children will not be allowed to go home during school hours. Parents are requested not to make any social engagements or medical appointments during working hours. To ensure better discipline, parents are requested not to send the children to school on the day they have such appointments.

Should there be any infectious disease in your home, please report the fact at once, and do not send your ward to class till the infectious period is over.

Do not try to teach your child yourself. Ask him/her to be attentive in the class and ask him/her to sort out the queries from teachers.

Never criticize or pass derogatory remarks about the school / teachers in front of your child. Show healthy respect for the teachers yourself and teach your child to do the same.

Simple suggestions given above, if followed, will help your ward blooming into a good student in the school and a successful / perfect citizen later in life.

Academic Session and Curriculum

(a) The academic session starts with the school opening on the first working day of April and finishes on 31st March of the succeeding year.

(b) An Activity-cum-Syllabus Booklet pertaining to his/her class is issued to every student at the beginning of the Academic Session. The details of curriculum and tests given therein are meticulously followed.

(c) The school follows the directives of CBSE with regard to the curriculum, syllabus and exams.

(d)During the academic year the continuous assessment / consolidated assessment tests will be conducted as prescribed by the CBSE.

(e) The objective of the Achievement Record is to facilitate holistic learning in the school in a stress-free environment.

Absence

Repeated absence without leave or unexplained absence for more than ten consecutive days renders the student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls. Re-admission may be granted only on payment of fresh admission fee provided the vacancy still exists.

Children will not be allowed to go home during school hours. Parents are requested not to make any social engagements or medical appointments during working hours. To ensure better discipline, parents are requested not to send the children to school on the day they have such appointments.

All children are expected to attend school on the opening day after every vacation. Those absent because of sickness must present a medical certificate from a registered Medical Practitioner before they re-join the class.

It is compulsory for students to complete 75% attendance in the academic year to make them eligible for the final examination. In case attendance is short, students may not be granted promotion to the next class. The students of classes X and XII having less than 75% attendance will not be allowed to appear in Board Exams as per CBSE Rules.

A child returning to school after suffering from infectious or contagious disease should produce a fitness certificate from a qualified doctor.

Students suffering from any of the following diseases must observe the prescribed period of quarantine before returning to class:

Tuition fee for April to June along with Annual Charges	by 10th April
Chicken Pox	Till the child is completely well.
Measles	One week after the rashes disappear.
Mumps	Until the swelling has gone which takes about 21 days.
Whooping cough	After getting fitness certificate from the doctor.
Jaundice	After getting fitness certificate from the doctor

Withdrawal

If a child is to be withdrawn from school, parents are required to give one month's notice or one calendar month's fee in lieu thereof. Exception may be made in case of a sudden transfer of government or military personal. Those who leave the school in May must in all cases pay the fees for the month of June also. All children are expected to attend school on the opening day after every vacation. Those absent because of sickness must present a medical certificate from a registered Medical Practitioner before they re-join the class. For obtaining Transfer Certificate a seven days notice is required to be given by the parents. TCs are not issued until all the dues are cleared. A proportionate refund of the given tuition fee and annual charges is made, in case a student leaves the school in between the session. Security deposit is refunded at the time of a student leaving the school. A Student can be asked to leave the school on the following grounds also:

(A)Disciplinary/caught cheating in exams.
(B) Constant and Unsatisfactory progress in work.
(C) Detention or failure in a class twice.
(D)Damaging school property.
(E) Misuse of school facilities (Internet/Lab materials)

As a rule only those students will be retained on the rolls in the school who can take the school leaving examination under 18 years of age.

Student who fails twice in the same class will not be permitted to continue his/her studies in the school.
